The Breath Test Operator qualification course is a 16-hour training whereby students are approved to operate the Intoxilyzer equipment. Upon satisfactory completion of the course, certification will be conferred by the state of Florida.
The Intoxilyzer training program is designed to enhance public safety by ensuring the accuracy and scientific reliability of evidentiary breath and blood alcohol tests, facilitating enforcement of the implied consent laws under Florida State Chapter 11D-8, and promoting the qualifications and professionalism of persons responsible for breath and blood alcohol analysis within Florida.
Agency approval usually required before class. Most agencies request that individual officers contact their training department prior to self-registration.
