This 28-hour I.V. Therapy Education Program (often referred to as “IV Certification”) will provide RN’s and post-graduate nursing students with a basic knowledge of I.V. therapy practice. RN’s are encouraged to complete the program as a refresher; or as a primer for new RN’s.
Course Content: Includes current standards of practice, a venous access device review (including 4 hours of central line education), venipuncture techniques, I.V. medication administration and fluid management, a review of nutritional solutions, management of difficult I.V. insertions, legal aspects and vascular access protocols.
This program includes a video/slide presentation given by Kay Coulter, CRNI, VA-BC, a video of a live peripheral IV catheter insertion demonstration and videos of 2 live implanted venous port access (and de-access) demonstrations, a printable workbook (100+ pages) containing an additional 8 hours of independent study/reading, and a post test following each chapter.
