Geospatial Technology includes concepts and use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), data collection platforms, cartography/visualization, and basic spatial analysis.  Students will learn how geospatial technology is used across different industries, in government, and for scientific research.  This is one of the entry level course where the student has a basic understanding of GIS terminology, and can navigate comfortably through web mapping programs (i.e. , ArcGIS Online, Google Earth, Google Maps).  We will be utilizing ESRI’s ArcGIS desktop and online platforms to develop graphics and perform analysis.  

The objectives of this course include: 1) explaining what GIS does and how it can enhance productivity; 2) explaining data sources and outlining credible ones; 3) outlining proper ethical workflow for setting up a GIS to conduct data analyses.
