This eighty-hour program will prepare an officer to obtain their K-9 Team Training Instructor certificate. Officers attending will focus on the role of the canine team instructor and the liability of K-9 training. The course will cover teaching the academics of canine as well as conducting the practical demonstrations. The course will examine the selection process of canine teams.
Those who attend should be prepared to participate in physical activity and demonstrate teaching a canine topic.
There is a mandatory attendance policy. Students will be required to pass written examination with minimum 85% and demonstrate proficiencies at 100%.
Note Eligibility Requirements:

Students must be a certified general instructor or in the process of obtaining this certification

Have a minimum of 5 years documented criminal justice K-9 experience and does not include canine teams used exclusively for tracking and trailing.

Students will be required to pass written examination with minimum 85% and demonstrate proficiencies.
Agency approval required before class. Most agencies request that individual officers contact their training department prior to self-registration. This course has restricted access to only currently sworn and direct support staff of an agency.
