This comprehensive course provides advanced training in electronics assembly and quality assurance for high-reliability industries, including aerospace, military, and space applications.

The program covers the IPC J-STD-001 standard—recognized globally for defining soldering process requirements—and integrates classroom instruction with extensive hands-on lab practice. Students will master component installation, wire termination, and solder joint inspection while adhering to the precision and reliability standards of IPC J-STD-001J and its Space & Military Applications Addendum (J-STD-001JS). Specialized topics include vibration and thermal cycling resistance, materials traceability, corrosion prevention (e.g., Red Plague), and process control for mission-critical environments.

In addition, students will gain proficiency in the IPC-A-610 “Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies” standard, the industry benchmark for visual inspection and quality acceptance criteria. This portion of the course trains participants to identify workmanship defects and apply objective evaluation methods to ensure compliance with Class 1, 2, and 3 electronic products.

A focused module on Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention provides essential knowledge to identify, mitigate, and control contamination risks during handling, storage, and transport. Participants will learn best practices to maintain FOD-controlled areas and implement effective mitigation strategies across all production stages.

The course also includes OSHA 10 General Industry safety training, equipping participants with foundational workplace safety knowledge—such as hazard communication, electrical safety, ergonomics, and personal protective equipment (PPE)—to ensure compliance with federal safety standards.

By the end of the course, students will be prepared to meet the rigorous quality, reliability, and safety expectations required in advanced electronics manufacturing environments.

Class lectures will be conducted in room NU-461 of the Tarpon Springs Campus
Lab trainings will be conducted in the Hub at the Tarpon Springs Campus.
