St. Petersburg College Electrical Lineworker Training – Day Cohort
St. Petersburg College’s Electrical Lineworker Training Program is designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue entry-level career opportunities in the electric utility industry as lineworker trainees.
Students will develop technical competency, analytical problem-solving skills, workplace ethics, teamwork, and job responsibility. The curriculum includes basic electrical theory, electric power system operations, safe work practices, and standards related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical systems.
Students will receive hands-on training in climbing poles, digging holes, and working with the tools, machinery, and equipment commonly used in the electric utility industry. Students will also learn electrical terminology, job-related safety practices, first aid, CPR, rescue procedures, and basic computer applications.
Program Dates: Monday, October 19, 2026–Thursday, February 18, 2027
Class Schedule: Monday through Thursday
Class Time: 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Training Hours: 360 total instructional hours, including classroom instruction, hands-on training, and required online assignments
Program Requirements
To be considered for the program, applicants must:

Be at least 18 years old.

Obtain a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) before the first day of class.

Attend and successfully complete the mandatory boot camp.

Be selected and approved for admission into the program.
You must be approved before registering for this class. Approval requires attending and successfully completing the mandatory boot camp held on September 11, 2026, and being selected for the program.
