CourseGraphic

In this blended program, students will prepare for an exciting career in this field as they master the fundamentals of personal training, gain real-life experience in an internship, and prepare to take the nationally-recognized W.I.T.S. certification exam. The program includes 15 online lecture hours, 15 practical lab hours (blended live location), and a 30-hour internship.

Note: There is no additional fee for the internship, and it is required for certification. Students will receive a "courtesy" list of approved facilities that are familiar with the program and the internship requirements. It is the student's responsibility to contact a facility and complete the internship.

Students can select from a list of 67 practical training locations. Although practical training may be available at local facilities, some students may have to travel to regional sites to complete their training. There is no additional fee for the practical training and testing, but students will be responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.

Pre-Requisite: This is a beginning level course. No pre-requisites are required. Students must obtain Adult CPR and AED certification in order to receive certification.

Completion Requirements: Students must earn a score of 70% or higher on the written exam and in each of the 5 section practical exams. Attendance is required and students are only allowed one excused absence. Students with an excused absence must schedule a make-up session and complete any work assigned. Adult CPR is required for the certification to be issued. Students are also required to complete a 30-hour internship. All items must be completed within 12 months of the original course start date. The renewal period is based on the original course completion dates.
