The Patrol Rifle Instructor Course is organized and developed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Commission-certified handgun instructor to provide efficient and effective patrol rifle training. The skills developed during this instructor course will prepare you to instruct the Patrol Rifle Operator Course and Patrol Rifle Instructor Course as well as to deliver in-service patrol rifle training and qualifications at your agency.
Before beginning course instruction, you must achieve a passing score of 29 out of 31 in one out of two attempts on the qualification since the course is designed to teach how to instruct patrol rifle rather than how to shoot. The amount of material that needs to be covered during the course does not allow time to overcome shooting deficiencies.
Later in this training, you will be responsible for instructing patrol rifle exercises on the range, including scoring targets and documenting student performance.
