What is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant?

A Clinical Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled allied healthcare professional who specializes in procedures commonly performed in the ambulatory healthcare setting. Clinical Medical Assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties and provide skilled assistance to a variety of providers including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. They typically work in medical offices, clinics, and urgent care centers and may work in general medicine or specialty practices.

Common duties of a Clinical Medical Assistant include administrative and clinical tasks, such as:
 

• Taking patient histories and vitals
•  Assisting providers with exams and procedures
• Administering injections and medications
• Preparing laboratory specimens
• Performing EKG, Phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures
• Checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure
• Answering phone calls and questions
• Working in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Insurance, Billing & Coding

First 7 weeks via Zoom Live Online Lecture

In Person Lab Dates: Wednesday, June 24, 2026 through Wednesday, July 29, 2026
5 weeks at Midtown Campus Clinical Skills Lab
Monday: 9:00 am-12pm
Wednesday : 9:00 am-12:00 pm
Wednesday, June 24, 2026 CPR Day-Report to Campus (9:00 am- 1:00 pm)

NO CLASSES: Memorial Day, May 25, 2026
                         Independence Day, July 6, 2026


Optional 80-Hour Externship

Refund Policy:

Fees are refundable if a student withdraws in writing before the first class meeting or before the second meeting of a class lasting more than one day. However, fees are not refundable once the student has logged in to the online content for the course.

All course materials (books, assessments, handouts, disks, unique online codes, etc.) must be returned, unused, within three days of the refund request for full refunds to be processed.  If course materials are used or not returned within three days, a partial refund (the cost of the course minus the cost of course materials) will be given.
