Statement Evaluation: Discovering the Lies

This seminar will educate and assist the public safety personnel by providing insight into deception, characteristics of liars, and statement examination for falsity. The application of the study of language in knowledge is vital to the resolution of cases. Deception research, often based on the anxiety created by the interview process, provides understanding to guide the investigator. This seminar focuses on evaluations of statements, often referred to as statement analysis. By examining words, independent of case facts, investigators can detect deception. Studying and assessing verbs, pronouns, speech hesitations, and other techniques, the investigator becomes the critical thinker and with the application of logic finds falsity.
