What is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant?
A Clinical Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled allied health care professional that specializes in
procedures commonly performed in the ambulatory health care setting. Clinical Medical
Assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties and provide skilled assistance to a
variety of providers including physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. They
typically work in medical offices, clinics, urgent care centers and may work in general medicine or
specialty practices.

Common duties of a Clinical Medical Assistant include administrative and clinical tasks, such as:
  • Taking patient histories and vitals
  •  Assisting providers with exams and procedures
  • Administering injections and medications
  • Preparing laboratory specimens
  • Performing EKG, Phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures
  • Checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure
  • Answering phone calls and questions
  • Working in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Insurance, Billing & Coding
Total # of Hours:494
Online: 246 hours (Students should expect to study on a average 16 hours a week)
Classroom: 168 hours
Externship: 80 hours

Class Schedule Dates/Times:
Tuesdays: 9:00AM - 1:00PM (Lecture)
Thursdays: 9:00AM - 3:30PM (Clinical Skills Lab)
Online Assignments: 24/7 (Monday - Sunday)
Externship Dates: November 23rd  - December 18th (unpaid)


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Meet the age limit requirement (Must be 18 years of age)
  • Meet the education requirement (Must hold a H.S. Diploma or GED.)
The following steps are to be completed PRIOR to course start date:
Provide proof of ONE of the following:
If college coursework completed, most recent unofficial transcripts
  • If no college coursework completed: copy of H.S. Diploma/GED (PERT or TABE test may be required)

Provide current copy Immunization Record(s). This can be retrieved from your primary care office or the Department of Health. Documentation must be provided by the fourth week of class.
  •  Physical (past 12 months
  •  Varicella Titer (Chickenpox)
  •  MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella)
  •  Hepatitis B Titer
  •  TB 2 step (within the last 12 months)
  •  TDAP within last 10 yrs.
  •  Influenza (only during flu season)

  • 2nd Payment $1165 due by July 31, 2020
  • 3rd Payment $1165 due by August 15, 2020

CPR Certfication must be from American Heart Association and valid for at least ONE year from class start date.

This is a Full Time blended program that consists of online assignments, face-to-face classroom training, and a 80 hour externship.

This is a non-credit program and is not PELL GRANT eligible.
