The goal of the Firearm Instructor Update Course is to train instructors and to provide an overview of changes made to the Florida Basic Recruit Training Program: High Liability firearms and the new firearm training and qualifications. This update course is mandatory for all Firearm instructors and must be completed by 1 July 2023 to be eligible to teach the new Firearms curriculum at academies and completed by 1 July 2024 for agency training and qualifications.
Eligibility Requirements: Students must hold an active Criminal Justice and Training Commission General Instructor Certification and High Liability Instructor Certification for Firearms Instructor.
Equipment: Duty gear, weapon, 3 magazines, hat, and 350 rounds of ammo
