Emergency Use & Evacuation of Elevators for Firefighters

This class is based on the Americal Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) A17.4 standard Guide for Emergency Personnel. Tailored specifically for fire personnel, this course is delivered in a classroom setting. The first half is an instructor led discussion followed by a hands-on practical application covering techniques identified during the lecture. There are five main objectives identified: 1) identifying types of passenger elevators; 2) discussing evacuation procedures from stuck elevators; 3) practicing evacuation procedures from stuck elevators; 4) discussing use of Fireman Control Phase I & Phase II during fire emergencies; 5) practicing with Fireman Control Phase I & Phase II under controlled conditions. The class will be instructed by subject matter expert retired District Chief Lou Sclafani.
