This course reviews the current status of the medical error crisis, how it relates to the Orthotic and Prosthetic fields and how to identify strategies for establishing a culture of safety for patients and healthcare workers alike. This course meets the two-credit-hour state requirement as defined in Chapter 64B14-5.005 for licensure in the O&P professions in the state of Florida. The course also covers root cause analysis, error reduction and prevention, patient safety and medical record keeping. This course is taught through recorded audio lecture and PowerPoint presentations.
In Florida, licensed O&P professionals include orthotists, prosthetists, orthotic fitters, pedorthists and orthotic fitter assistants.
