What is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant?
A Clinical Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled allied health care professional that specializes in procedures commonly performed in the ambulatory health care setting. Clinical Medical Assistants perform both clinical and administrative duties and provide skilled assistance to a variety of providers including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. They typically work in medical offices, clinics, urgent care centers and may work in general medicine or specialty practices.
Common duties of a Clinical Medical Assistant include administrative and clinical tasks, such as:
- Taking patient histories and vitals
- Assisting providers with exams and procedures
- Administering injections and medications
- Preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing EKG, Phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures
- Checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure
- Answering phone calls and questions
- Working in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Insurance, Billing & Coding

Refund Policy:
Fees are refundable if a student withdraws in writing prior to the first class meeting or prior to the second meeting of a class lasting more than one day. However, fees are not refundable once the student has logged in to the online content for the course.
All course materials (books, assessments, handouts, disks, unique online codes, etc.) must be returned, unused, within three days of the refund request in order for full refunds to be processed. If course materials are used or not returned within the three day time period, a partial refund (the cost of course minus the cost of course materials) will be given.
