The Single Response to Active Threat portion prepares the SRO to respond immediately to an active shooter incident. Officers will learn the mental and technical aspects of single officer response to active assailant.
This advanced course combines Crisis Intervention Training for SRO’s #1401 and Single Officer Response to Active Threat and Shooter Incidents #1402. The Crisis Intervention portion is a specialized course that mirrors the nationally recognized Memphis Model.
It prepares the SRO to respond immediately to a student in crisis. Officers will learn about common mental health and behavioral issues, de-escalation techniques, involuntary commitment, and supporting students as they re-enter school after treatment.
