This course is part of the CJSTC Advanced Training Program. Courses in the Advanced Training Program are designed to enhance an officer’s knowledge, skills, and abilities for job performance. This course replaces retired course, CJSTC #093 Hostage Negotiations.
This course will provide the hostage negotiator with the skills needed to resolve a situation involving a hostage taker, barricaded subject, or suicidal individual. It provides instruction on the topic at the fundamental level, and when combined with previous experience, will enable the student to successfully respond to an incident.
Officers will be required to pass a written test with an 80%. There is a mandatory attendance policy. This course is salary incentive eligible. Those who previously completed CJSTC #093 are eligible to receive salary incentive for this course.
