Advanced Hoseline Management

This course will consist of 8 hours of combined lecture and hands-on drills designed as
a train-the-trainer for engine company operations Advanced Hoseline Management.
The goals and objectives are going to cover stretching the first line, performing difficult
stretches, working with 1 3/4, 2 1/2, 3 and 5 inch lines, types of stretches and estimating
the amount of hose needed. The course will highlight the basic objectives of the first 
due engine company, common hose loads, pre-connected lines, making up lines out of
the hose bed, the ability to do a good size-up, how to estimate distances both outside and 
inside a structure, how to work with reduced staffing levels, advantages and 
disadvantages of using 2 1/2 and 3 inch lines, stress the advantages of hands-on training
prior to the event, figuring fire flow requirements, extending off a 2 1/2, negotiating 
obstacles and corners, advancing and retreating.
