School Resource Officer School
This course prepares the SRO to fulfill their roles. The SRO will learn how to build a rapport with students, teachers, and administrators; apply search and seizure laws and other laws relating to juveniles and schools; develop an awareness of crime trends; conduct emergency management; provide campus security; conduct student counseling and mediation; and learn how to identify and use outreach resources.
There is an attendance policy and those attending will be required to pass a written exam with an 80%. Those who successfully complete this course may be eligible for salary incentive payments or may apply this course toward satisfying their mandatory retraining requirement.
