In the AC/DC course, the student will become familiar with the basics of direct current (DC), the components used regulate it, and how to connect them to create circuits. These circuits will comprise the basic building blocks of controls and interfaces of many common machines and devices. The student will also learn fundamental analysis of electricity and be introduced to magnetic circuits. Students will learn about Ohm’s and Kirchhoff’s laws and useful related theorems, including Thevenin, Norton, superposition, nodal, and mesh equation to be able to quantify useful circuit parameters. Lastly, the student will participate laboratory exercises that will cover the measurement and analysis of direct current (DC) circuits, and the verification of some of the aforementioned theorems.
