The 40 hour FDLE course is designed to provide officers with instruction in the principles and operation of radar and laser instruments. Officers will be required to participate in field exercises to demonstrate an understanding of the practical operation of the speed measurement instruments. The course provides an opportunity for officers to develop specialized skills in radar and laser operations. Officers will be required to pass a practical and written test.
100% attendance is required and participants must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the written exam to receive a certificate of completion. *Agency authorization is required.
*Recommended that the students bring moving (handheld and or/in car) radars or lasers from your agency.
*Priority for registration into this class is given to agencies within Pinellas County. Remaining seats will be open to all agencies 16 days from the start date.
